An artist is an instrument and spokesperson for the spirit of his time.
–Heyder Reyes
Heyder is a young artist who lived his childhood and youth under the Cuban dictatorship. Thanks to his art and through an exhibition outside the island, he was able to emigrate, first to Mexico, then to the United States.
His current pictorial-narrative artistic proposal delves into the theme of emigration, with a marked emphasis on the emotional consequences that displacement causes, highlighting loneliness and love. His painting expresses the search for reunion, it is a journey towards his own identity, longing for the past, but convinced of his decision to start a new life.
The universality of his discourse lies in the strength that is generated in humans when going through critical situations, not only physical, but emotional.
