Introduction by the Gallerist
Francisco was a Colombian artist whose work draws heavily from the landscapes, people, and stories of his childhood and adulthood in Antioquia. His art, often described as a masterful fusion of Cubism, Constructivism, and Primitivism, captures the essence of everyday life in Colombia, with scenes such as couples or friends sharing coffee.
Correa's paintings are filled with personal symbolism: horses representing his father and grandfather, tables embodying his mother, and female figures as tributes to women. His pieces invite both reflection and admiration, creating visual narratives filled with universality.
Despite growing up amidst the turmoil of Colombia's armed conflict and drug trafficking, Correa found solace in art, first as a university student of architecture and later in his self-imposed isolation in La Ceja, where he devoted himself entirely to his work. His intention was always to create rather than seek fame, always avoiding the traditional routes of exhibitions and fairs.
Collectors around the world now admire his art. In 2021, Mexican newspaper El Economista described him as “Latin America’s best kept secret.” While his life was cut short, his artistic presence remains strong, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire and captivate.

Critical text by the Curator
The master Francisco Correa leaves a great legacy of Colombia for the entire world, because his art is an instant classic that has captured the admiration of those who have been able to appreciate it.
Vibrant works full of rhythm that captivate the senses and delight the imagination. Horses, tables, female figures and scenes of Colombian life fill his canvases with movement, dance and music, also with geometry and architecture. Figures that form bodies, houses and objects, always in a hypnotizing symmetry under an atmosphere of mystery.
The use of colors and contrasts is also a visual delight, the variety of tones never fails to impact, while still carrying with it a harmony with the whole. There is no doubt about the mastery of lines and drawing, an evident knowledge of space and dimensions.
Each piece takes us on a walk of memories and everyday moments, encounters between characters, faces and animals, with a strong cubist style characteristic of Correa.
Since the Master did not seek popularity with his work, his paintings have been presented very few times, but his genius has remained for posterity.
